Children’s, Youth and Family Worker- Christ Church Ottershaw

Created: 4th June 2026 at 13:37

Contract:

Part-time 14 hours/week

Salary:

14 hours/week based on a pro rata salary of £30,000

Description:

We are Christ Church Ottershaw. At the heart of who we are is a simple conviction: that in Jesus Christ, God has made His love known to the world. We believe that a relationship with God is made possible through Jesus Christ, who declares in John 14 that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. As a church, we seek not only to hold this truth but to live it out, serving our local community by sharing God's love in both word and action.

As we continue to grow together, our hope is to become an increasingly creative, joy-filled and welcoming church family—one that loves Jesus, values the Bible and is open to the work of the Holy Spirit. We long to flourish together as we commit ourselves to serving others and sharing the hope we have found in Christ.

We are now looking for a passionate and gifted Children's, Youth and Family Worker to join our small staff team. This is an important role, helping children and young people explore faith, deepen their relationship with God and grow as disciples, while also building meaningful connections with their families and the wider community.

We are seeking someone who can demonstrate a genuine heart for working with children, young people and families; who has a personal Christian faith; and who can communicate the good news of Jesus Christ and the Bible creatively in ways that are engaging, interactive and relevant.

A central part of the role will be leading Sunday School and helping to plan and deliver a monthly All-Age Service, supported by a small team that includes the Vicar. While less frequent, Messy Church, Godly Play and primary school-aged children's groups will also form an important part of the role. Support and guidance will be provided where needed.

Previous experience in leading children's and youth ministry would therefore be an advantage, though it is not essential.

A clear understanding of safeguarding is essential.

The successful applicant will play a key part in shaping our ministry among children and families. The role is for 14 hours per week (0.35 FTE), based on a pro rata salary of £30,000, with full-time equivalent being 40 hours per week.

Application deadline: 31st July at 6.00pm
