New Church School Headteachers are welcomed to the diocese

On Thursday 18 September, eight newly appointed Headteachers of Church schools across the diocese, were welcomed by Alex Tear, Diocesan Director of Education and members of the Education team for their induction day.

As part of the induction day, the headteachers reflected on their vision for their Church school and the different areas which contribute to developing the Christian character of their schools.

This included sessions on Religious Education, Collective Worship and Spirituality and further aspects including support for school effectiveness and developing partnerships between schools and churches.

Canon Alex Tear, Diocesan Director of Education said:

"It was wonderful to welcome our new cohort of headteachers to Church House and spend some time getting to know them as part of their induction day. The Education team provide support and advice to 81 Church schools across the diocese and the induction day is a key part of that support."

"Church schools are a core part of our Diocesan mission and commitment to serve children and young people and grow younger. The headteachers of our Church schools are a key part of helping us to achieve that mission and serving our local communities and parishes."
