The Vacancy in See Committee is a group of lay and clergy members tasked with preparing a Statement of Needs, articulating the qualities needed in our next Bishop, and electing members from the diocese to the Crown Nominations Commission (CNC), the body that interviews candidates and ultimately appoints the next Bishop of Guildford.
As part of its work, the Vacancy in See Committee wants to listen carefully to voices across the Diocese. As we discern who God may be calling as the next Bishop of Guildford, we warmly invite you to share your views through our diocesan consultation.
(closing 8am, 20 July)
We want to hear from as many people as possible about the life and future of our Diocese. We are consulting widely: clergy and laity, all ages, regular and occasional worshippers, and those in chaplaincies across schools, the military, prisons, and hospitals. Every perspective matters.
Please share the link above in your communications to encourage participation.
Church schools have been invited to share a separate survey with children from 6 July. This will be supported by collective worship resources.
As we look ahead, we do so in the context of our diocesan vision of Transforming Church, Transforming Lives. This consultation is an opportunity to build on that vision, celebrating what God is already doing among us and prayerfully considering what kind of leadership we need for the future. Your contribution will help shape the Diocese’s next chapter.
