Celebration service to be held for Black History Month

Our Diocesan Black History Month Service on 25 October at Guildford Cathedral, will bring people together from across the Diocese of Guildford to celebrate Black history, faith and culture, while reflecting on racial justice, welcome and belonging in the Church.

We are delighted to welcome Revd Moni Babatunde, Associate Minister at St Andrew's, Cobham, and Chair of the Racial Diversity Advisory Group, as our preacher.

The service will feature uplifting worship led by the Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir and the Pantasy Steel Band, alongside contributions from churches across the diocese, including St Martin of Tours, Epsom, sharing reflections from its Slavery Memorial Project, and St Andrew's, Cobham. Through music, prayer, poetry and reflection, we will celebrate the richness and diversity of God's Church while renewing our commitment to racial justice and inclusion.

Everyone is warmly welcome to join us as we celebrate, learn and reflect together.

If you would like to share the event in your church, you can download this poster and slide.
